The situation for sports fans owning a PlayStation Vita has grown more dire. In an interview with Eurogamer , EA Sports’ David Rutter has revealed that the Vita version of the upcoming FIFA 14 will be nothing more than a reskinned roster update. This means that there will be no new gameplay features. The game will simply have FIFA 13’s gameplay with an updated player roster and kits.

“There will be a Vita version, and it’ll be the same great gameplay,” Rutter told Eurogamer at Gamescom. “It’s the same great gameplay and new kits.”

Nothing more than a roster update on the Vita

The Vita port of FIFA 14 isn’t being developed by the main team at Vancouver which usually develops the game. Instead, it is being handled by an EA-owned studio in Romania. The Vancouver team generally designs the “flagship” versions of the games, which basically means the current or next-gen versions. Currently, the Vancouver team is helping out with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 port of FIFA 14.

Rutter hasn’t revealed any information regarding the pricing for the Vita version of FIFA 14. When asked if whether the game simply being a reskin would mean that it wouldn’t cost as much as a full game, Rutter said, “I have nothing to do with the prices, but I’ll be clear.” He continued, “It’s the same great gameplay. And obviously with any new kits.”

Recently, EA had announced that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 would be getting FIFA 14 demos on September 10. The game will be hitting stores on September 24 in North America and September 27 in the rest of the world. The game will be available on a wide variety of platforms—Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable. When the next-gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4 hit stores, FIFA 14 will also be making its way to them.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
