It looks like the PlayStation 4 may not be getting Diablo 3 as soon as we thought. In an interview by DiabloFans with Blizzard’s Josh Mosqueira, Travis Day and Wyatt Cheng, it has been revealed that the Diablo 3 team has just recently received the new PlayStation 4 development kits. Because of this, translating the game for the console is yet to be done. The studio also like the DualShock 4’s features, such as the trackpad and the Share button, and wants to do “something cool” with them.
Because of this, Diablo 3 will not be one of the launch titles of the PS4. The game will instead be hitting store shelves some time in 2014. According to Diablo Fans, the studio wants to tailor the game specifically for the PS4 instead of just having a copy-paste port. Because of this plan, expansion packs that hit the PS3 and PC versions of the game will not be released simultaneously with the PS4 version. Instead, each version will be released one at a time because the developers will be tailoring the content for the platform.
Most definitely not a launch title for the PS4
As of now, there is still no word on whether there will be an Xbox One port of Diablo 3. The company, however, has stated that there are no plans for a portable version of the game.
Diablo III continues the Diablo storyline, and players take on the role of one of five characters—barbarian, witch doctor, wizard, monk, or demon hunter. You have to embark on a perilous quest to save the world of Sanctuary from the corrupting forces of the Burning Hells. As players make their way from the demon-besieged town of New Tristram to the Diamond Gates of the High Heavens, they’ll fight hordes of monsters and challenging bosses, grow in experience and ability, acquire artifacts of incredible power, and run across key characters who’ll join them in battle or aid them along the way.
