PlayStation 4 up for pre-order in India

With the recent announcement of the release window and pricing for Sony’s next-gen console, the PlayStation 3, Indian game retailer Game4u has started taking pre-orders for the console. The console can be pre-ordered from either Game4u’s brick-and-mortar stores or from the company’s website.

To pre-order, those interested will have to pay Rs 3,000. Once the console is launched in the country, those who have booked the console can pick it up and pay the remainder of the cost. The company does point out on its PlayStation 4 page, however, that Sony hasn’t yet announced a release date or price for the console in India.

We tried to reach out to Sony for a comment on this, but were unable to get in touch with the company.

Back during its pre-E3 press conference, Sony had announced that the PlayStation 4 will be launched in November and will cost $399 (Rs 23,300 approx) in the US, which is $100 less than rival Microsoft’s console, the Xbox One, which is priced at $499 (Rs 28,900 approx).

For the price being paid, Sony is offering the system along with a controller and USB, HDMI and power cables. PlayStation 4 Eye is not part of the package, though, and can be bought separately for $59 (Rs 3,400 approx).

All told, Sony has marketed its latest offering well. With a good software offering and a cheaper retail price, the PS4 should definitely see good sales. How Microsoft is planning to combat this is yet to be seen.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
