Capcom’s PlayStation 4-exclusive dungeon crawling RPG Deep Down will apparently take randomisation of levels to a whole new level. According to a Facebook post by Capcom , translated by Gematsu , the game’s randomised dungeons will have infinite variations, including things like chests, traps, ladders and verticality.

While many games, such as the massively popular Diablo 3, use randomisation for level creation, Deep Down’s system will have even more of it because of a system that ensures that all elements of a dungeon are random during the generation.

Going in deep, are we?

Capcom has described deep down as a “memory-reading RPG” which lets players “read” the history of the game’s world from objects around them. The gameplay also seems to be heavily inspired from one of Capcom’s earlier titles—Dragon’s Dogma—which was lauded for its gameplay which revolved around climbing giant monsters and killing them.

A trailer was released at a Sony conference in Japan where Capcom showed a brief demo of the game. If the gameplay demo is anything to go by, it’ll be quite similar to From Software’s hit RPG Dark Souls. Capcom has also announced that it will be an online game where players will be able to bump into other players as they quest on their own.

Going by the trailer, the game seems to employ a similar narrative to that of Ubisoft’s ever-popular Assassin’s Creed series. There seems to be a sci-fi setting as well as the more typical medieval fantasy setting where most of the hack-and-slash gameplay will take place.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
