Capcom has been pretty quiet about its PlayStation 4-exclusive, Deep Down, only giving out information at big events. At the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom Producer Yoshinori Ono revealed that Deep Down will be a free-to-play title. According to Polygon , the company hopes to get an open beta for Deep Down ready by the time the PlayStation 4 hits Japanese markets, which is scheduled to be in February.

Typically, playing games online will need a PlayStation Plus subscription on the PS4. When it comes to free-to-play games, however, Sony has decided to leave the requirement up to the developers. If a developer chooses, gamers can play their free games without paying a cent. This includes titles such as PlanetSide 2 and DC Universe Online.

Last week, Capcom had released a trailer that showed us what kind of narrative Deep Down will have, along with some snippets of gameplay here and there. The trailer was released at a recent Sony conference in Japan where Capcom also showed a brief demo of the game.

According to the company, Deep Down will have randomly-generated levels, and if the gameplay demo is anything to go by, it’ll be quite similar to From Software’s hit RPG Dark Souls. Capcom has also announced that it will be an online game where players will be able to bump into other players as they quest on their own.

The game seems to employ a similar narrative to that of Ubisoft’s ever-popular Assassin’s Creed series. There seems to be a sci-fi setting as well as the more typical medieval fantasy setting where most of the hack-and-slash gameplay will take place.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
