PlayBook OS 2.0 likely to release on February 21

Although, we haven’t seen anything come out of RIM’s kitty, it has been making news about the release of the PlayBook OS 2.0 sometime in February and a leaked roadmap to show what the company will be offering through this year and early next year. The PlayBook OS 2.0 was supposedly arriving on 17th of the month, but will now face a slight delay of a few days and is expected to launch on February 21, reports N4BB. Four days of delay isn’t much, given that RIM is known to bring out their products late, losing market to other swiftly advancing operating systems (read iOS and Android, and possibly WP in near future). The U.S National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was the latest to replace BlackBerry handsets given to its employees with iPhones.

However, reports also say that despite the slight delay, RIM won’t utilize the time to bring in the BBM support. Yes, the release of the PlayBook OS 2.0 won’t be complete as it is rumored not to support the popular BBM services. So, probably RIM plans to announce the support sometime later. However, reportedly, one can use BBM through Bridge. After the conundrum over the BBX platform and the re-christening of the BlackBerry’s newest OS for smartphones, the BlackBerry 10 smartphones are something everyone is looking forward to. We did get a sneak peek into the BlackBerry 10 OS today, sporting a set of new features.
