It’s about time? Well, it surely isn’t for PopCap, as the company has announced that the sequel to its hit game Plants vs Zombies is going to be delayed, less than three weeks before its release.
Plants vs Zombies 2: It’s About Time, which was to be released for iOS devices on 18th July, is now delayed and will only be coming “later in the summer”. The team tweeted about the delay from the PopCap account: “We’re sorry for the delay, but want to make sure the game lives up to fans’ expectations. Stay tuned for more details.”
Delayed!
Even before the date was finally set to July 18, the game was supposed to have been in stores by “first-half of 2013”. The series of delays makes it now look like the game will not be coming anytime before August. The company has told IGN that the delay “does not change the sequence of platforms in which we release the game”. Essentially, iOS will still be getting It’s About Time first. “We certainly have plans for other platforms beyond mobile,” has assured.
The sequel will continue with the struggle between plants that defend your brains and zombies that are invading your backyard. The company also plans to extend the game levels to eras in both the past and the future. The time-travelling in the game will enable you to meet pirates and travel to ancient Egypt.
The game is being developed from the ground up for touch-based devices and will feature new touch-based power-ups that will let you interact with both the plants and the zombies directly.
