An interesting update has braced Pinterest. Starting now, users will be emailed each time there is a drop in the price of their favourite, much-awaited pin.
The popular social site allows users to view the current price of pins from some other websites, following an update in May, but there was no way that one could tell if the price of their favourite pin had dropped. Once the update sets in, which Pinterest says should come gradually, users can continue pinning as usual and be assured to get notified if there’s an update.
A notification for price drops now!
In a blog post in May, Anna Majkowska, Software Engineer at Pinterest, had revealed that they worked with a host of known websites to bundle more information on some pins so users can do more of what they liked. Users now have Product pins for products like clothes, furniture with complete with pricing, availability and the location of its availability (updated every day). For those who love cooking, there are Recipe pins from users’ favourite blogs and websites – complete with cooking time, ingredients and servings. For the movie buff, there are Movie pins that come with content ratings and cast members, among other details.
Further, Pinterest adds that it will group these “price drop” notifications into a single email to avoid sending too many of them each time there’s an update.
The site will also be getting a few other features in the weeks to come, significantly the support for “Do Not Track” The ability to set Do Not Track preferences for one’s data is crucial, since it protects a user’s privacy while giving him or her more control over their information. Pinterest users can now also set DNT preferences in their browser to inform the sites they visit that they do not want them to collect certain information about them.
