Piers Morgan and Indian Twitterati are having a troll feud

Twitter is exploding in slow motion, with Piers Morgan trending in India all because of a difference in opinion on what constitutes as winning. It all started with controversial TV personality Piers Morgan commenting on the celebrations around Welsh olympic medal winners. https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/752074584279646208 A sports fan of some kind decided it was an appropriate time to show Piers Morgan how Olympic medal winning sportsmen are received in India. Morgan had this to say in response: https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/768352437166112768 This understandably made the keyboard warriors in India furious. However, Morgan showed he had an appetite to have an internet discussion on a touchy topic. He stood his ground and went toe to toe with the enthusiastic Indian sports fans. https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/768390402919530496 If you suddenly have an urge to look up Morgan on Wikipedia, the tl;dr version is that he had a stellar career working for some of the most colorful British tabloids including The Sun, The Daily Mirror and News of the World. The informed and enlightening discussion continued, and soon, Piers Morgan started trending in India. https://twitter.com/TrendsmapIndia/status/768407223726997504 Then Chetan Bhagat got into the fray. There was a passive-aggressive insult exchange in the form of misspelled first names. Bhagat managed to squeeze in same quality of grammar as his books, in less than 140 characters. https://twitter.com/chetan_bhagat/status/768403625966116864 https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/768409795372183552 Chetan Bhagat also got a little lesson in British humour. https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/768412231927291904 Suhel Seth made a heroic entry. https://twitter.com/suhelseth/status/768409347600834560 https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/768410744362790912 A traitor in our midst bravely showed his face. https://twitter.com/Ani_13_12/status/768410234322690048 Morgan would just not stop. He fortified his argument with statistics. Fortunately, no pie charts were involved. https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/768415814802374656 Some conspiracy theorists suggested that all the brouhaha was an attempt by Morgan to get some free publicity, to announce his entry into Bollywood. Morgan did nothing to silence the rumours. https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/768417368120954880 Of course, the troubled past of Indians and the British came up. Fortunately, the Kohinoor diamond wasn’t brought into the fight. https://twitter.com/vivek1802/status/768420567636701184 https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/768421012228612096 The discussion is still raging. Morgan’s twitter feed is here.
