Philips Unveils Two New GoGear PMPs

Philips has just unveiled two new GoGear PMPs – the GoGear Ariaz and the GoGear Opus. Very trendy names, I have to say. With regard to their design, they seem quite like the others in the series except for the Ariaz that does manage to employ a little deviation from the traditional.

The Opus media player is equipped with a 2.8-inch QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) display and is loaded with Philips’ FullSound audio technology. Also included with the packaging are Philips’ sound isolation headphones, an integrated FM radio, voice recording with a built in microphone. The player also has support for Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP).

The second player called the Ariaz has a funkier form factor and doesn’t have Philip’s rounded five way nav-pad navigation system; instead the Ariaz uses a touchscreen vertical bar with touch sensitive keys for activating features and scrolling. Also incorporating Philips’ FullSound technology, the Ariaz will come with a pair of high definition, sound isolation headphones that include three different shaped ear buds.

The device also allows users to download movies directly from the internet using your PC or laptop, without having to worry about the sizing. The bundled Philips Media Converter will help enhance the acceptable video formats to be optimized for playback on the player’s screen. Other features also include an FM radio with RDS and voice recorder.

According to the reports, the GoGear Opus should be available in April of this year in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities for approximately Rs. 6, 227 (99 Euros), Rs. 9, 246 (147 Euros) and Rs. 11, 260 (179 Euros) respectively.

The Ariaz will be available in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities at around the same time with price tags of Rs. 4, 969 (79 Euros), Rs. 6, 227 (99 Euros) and Rs. 8, 114 (129 Euros) respectively.
