Philips Cinema 21:9 Full HD 3D LED Pro TV Launched in India

Philips has launched or re-launched rather a giant of a TV, the Cinema 21:9, Full HD 3D LED Pro TV with Ambilight. The previous model was launched last year and you can check out the review right here. The TV comes with the Perfect Pixel HD engine and LED Pro, which is designed to go with the 21:9 movie format. Philips says that movie watching will be taken to the next level where we can say goodbye to those pesky black and no loss due to unutilised screen space. To add to that, the Ambilight surrounding your screen, makes images seem even wider, providing a better movie viewing experience. Of course the icing on the cake is the fact that this TV supports 3D viewing as well. The Updated Philips Cinema also has a whole lot of other features such as 2,560 x 1,080 resolution, 400Hz & Perfect Natural Motion for ultra-smooth Full HD movies & Philips Net TV with Wi-Fi that allows you to wirelessly enjoy the online world.

Super wide TV = great movie viewing experience

My only concern with this is that the ultra-wide screen may pose problems while watching regular TV, 16:9 movies and even gaming. However, our Labs Manager, Rajesh D’souza got to witness how the TV performs first hand, and this is what he had to say, “They made us first watch 5 minutes of footage without the glasses and when we finally put on the glasses, it was an nothing short of an amazing experience. It really felt like the picture was coming out from the screen at me!”

Well, that pretty much sums it up and I can’t wait to get my hands on this TV to put it through its paces, but that is probably going to take a while. In the mean time, start saving up, as this TV’s MRP starts at Rs. 4,00,000!
