Phil Schiller's recommendation for charging and listening to music on an Apple iPhone 7 is not a solution

Apple recently announced its iPhone 7 smartphone and the only big problem that Apple fans had with it, was that it was missing a 3.5mm headphone jack. While Apple did provide a solution in the form of AirPods, a wireless headphone, what happens to those who don’t want to buy one? Charging becomes a hassle as the new headphones feature a lightning connector and unfortunately, the iPhone 7 only packs in one that poses a problem when it comes charging and listening to music at the same time. What does Apple think about this move? Well, as reported by MacRumours, Apple SVP of marketing Phil Schiller said in an email to a customer that he preferred using the new wireless AirPods to the traditional wired ones and that it solves the charging+listening to music problem for him. But he did have a recommendation for those who preferred wired headphones and wanted to listen to music while charging and it’s called the Apple iPhone Lightning Dock. The Apple iPhone Lightning Dock (that costs about Rs 3500) as many of you may know provides a 3.5mm headphone jack and lets you charge your iPhone by mounting it on top of it. While it seems like a solution, it would have been smarter for Apple to simply provide wireless charging when they came up with the ‘brilliant idea" of skipping on a headphone jack instead. Also the iPhone Lightning Dock is sold separately. So it’s pretty much straight forward that a pricey Bluetooth headset is the only way out for iPhone 7 owners. And even the AirPods as we discovered come with their fair share of problems . It may be a bold move forward for wireless technology, but Apple could have sealed that move for itself, provided it packaged those AirPods with the iPhone 7 instead of selling them separately. Future iPhones could also feature wireless charging ( a glass iPhone 8 ?) and that would make it purely wireless, but for now the iPhone 7 seems more like a trial and error effort by Apple to test the waters, which could turn out to be a big gamble .
