Periscope is currently testing a feature which will allow hand-drawn doodles over live video streams. However, this feature is available with beta users at the moment. The tool will let users draw in three primary colors or can also use a dropper to select a color from the video.
A Twitter spokesperson told TechRadar , “We’re testing Sketching with a small group of people. This feature makes it fun and easy for broadcasters to draw on the screen while broadcasting. Coming in a few weeks for everyone!”
The Next Web ’s Matt Navara tweeted an example of Sketching in action too.

The report further sheds light on the fact that sketching will be perfect for when broadcasters need to point out key areas of the screen that viewers should pay attention to. Recently, the Twitter-owned social live-streaming service turned one, last month.
Periscope says it has hit 200 million live broadcasts since its launch in March 2015, out of which 100 million were achieved since January 2016. That’s almost double the number since January. It should be noted that it was in January that Twitter decided on a Periscope integration. The company further said that Periscope users watch 110 years or about 1 million hours of live streams everyday.
Periscope was acquired by Twitter early last year for $100 million. One of its biggest competitor at that time was Meerkat. In fact, it was Meerkat that compelled Twitter to buy Periscope. It later cut off from Meerkat totally, for obvious reasons.
