Periscope is working on a live streaming app for Apple TV: Report

Ahead of Apple’s event today, a new Techcrunch report reveals that Periscope has started working on an app for Apple TV. It should be noted that Apple TV will have its own App Store. Some previous reports have highlighted how games will be the focus of the upgraded Apple TV and it will also come with a multi-functional remote control. Besides, the TV will bring some other apps and Periscope is likely to make it to the list. “Though we can’t confirm the exact functionality of the app, it’s likely to be focused on watching streams. Periscope made videos viewable on the web in June without the ability to broadcast, and the Apple TV app could work similarly,” the report adds. However, the report talks about the possibility of Periscope for Twitter being previewed at the Apple event tonight, but doesn’t confirm any specific launch date. Periscope  is a live streaming app owned by Twitter available on iOS and Android. Live streaming on Twitter became a craze with the introduction of Meerkat, a similar live streaming app which was being called the new  Twitter sensation . However, Twitter took advantage of the situation and blocked the rival app and purchased Periscope, so as to monetise from this opportunity.
