Twitter’s live-streaming app Periscope rolled out an update which introduces a much-requested feature that will allow users to view and broadcast live streams in landscape mode. This feature, which is available for iOS, Android and the web will look correct, no matter which orientation the smartphone is placed in. “When we first launched Periscope, we only supported portrait broadcasting,” the company said in a blog post , adding: “As much as we’re fans of portrait video, we know that there are times where the scene you’re trying to capture is best expressed in landscape.” The company has also added in many new features. Originally, when someone you follow shares a broadcast, it appears in your home feed. Now, an indicator has been added beneath the broadcast title explaining who shared it with you. In addition to that, one can also share the link to a live broadcast or replay it on Facebook as well. The team has also worked on the app’s social features and has introduced a few accessibility modes too. According to the company, this update makes private broadcasting much easier on Android. When somebody starts a private broadcast, you can choose from a list of mutual followers (people you follow, who also follow you). The team believes that ’this list is a more natural selection of people who you are likely to broadcast to.’ This feature will arrive on iOS soon. The move by Periscope has been put forward ahead of the expected launch of the rumoured Periscope app for the new Apple TV.
