PC version of Resident Evil 6 now up for pre-order on Steam

Those who missed out on Resident Evil 6 when it came out the consoles will soon be able to play the game on the PC. The PC version of Resident Evil 6 is now up for pre-order on digital distribution platform Steam. Much like Firaxis had done with XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Capcom is using a tiered reward system to promote pre-orders. If enough people pre-order the game, they will all get some extra goodies. The game will be out for PC on March 23, 2013, and can be pre-ordered for $40 (approx. 2,150).

The rewards are split into three tiers. The first tier will get buyers the Resident Evil 6 digital soundtrack and a digital copy of the Resident Evil 6 Artworks: Creature Design book. The second tier gets buyers everything from tier 1, along with a free copy of Resident Evil 5. Those who already own RE5 can gift the game to their friend. Tier 3 gets buyers everything from the previous tiers, along with a free copy of the Resident Evil 6 DLC Season Pass which will get free access to all four of the upcoming multiplayer DLC modes, including Survivor, Predator, Onslaught and Siege.

Back in January, Capcom had announced that the PC version of the game would be getting an exclusive multiplayer game mode, dubbed Mercenaries: No Mercy. The new game mode takes the fan favourite Mercenaries game mode and ramps up the gameplay even further, presumably taking advantage of the better hardware available on PCs. It will have more enemies on screen and will offer greater challenges.

Both digital and physical versions will include the following features, which were added to the console versions in post-launch title updates: access to Ada Wong’s campaign from the outset along with the option to play this campaign with a co-op partner; the ability to fine tune the in-game camera. Just like the console version, players of the PC version will also be able to use ResidentEvil.net.

The company has also announced a new game mode for the console version of the game, dubbed Siege. It is an online multiplayer mode for two to six players and is described as the ultimate ‘Agent Hunt’ mode. Siege sees a lone AI-controlled rookie BSAA agent in trouble and in need of help. Players will split into two teams with one assuming control of enemy creatures who are trying to take down the rookie while the other team selects playable characters from the main game and must keep him alive.

Each game consists of two rounds with teams switching between the human and enemy roles. The human team wins a round if the BSAA agent survives, while the enemies win if they can defeat him. Siege Mode will be available in March for Xbox 360 and PS3, priced at 320 Microsoft Points or $3.99, which roughly translates to Rs 214.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
