Panasonic launches lightweight Toughbook CF-SX2

Panasonic Toughbook, has recently introduced in India the Panasonic CF-SX2 ultra-light notebook for business professionals who are constantly on the move.

Panasonic launches lightweight Toughbook CF-SX2

Panasonic Toughbook has recently introduced in India the Panasonic CF-SX2 ultra-light notebook meant for people on the move. Though the ruggedness of the notebook is its highlighted feature, the CF-SX2 features other interesting attributes such as a battery that Panasonic claims to last up to 14 hours, a built-in DVD optical drive, 3G connection capabilities and weighs 1.21 kg, making it very portable.

“The demands of doing business today have created an increasingly mobile workforce, and business professionals today are constantly on the move to meet clients and partners,” said Gunjan Sachdev, General Manager, (National Business Head) - Toughbook, Panasonic India Pvt Ltd. “The Panasonic CF-SX2 was designed to be the perfect companion for these professionals, by merging enterprise-level technologies with an extremely long battery life. Users are able to boost their productivity through spending longer hours in the field achieving business objectives.”

The Panasonic CF-SX2 features a light but strong magnesium alloy casing which helps in reducing the weight by up to 33 percent. The unit also has an ergonomic circular scrolling touchpad that is customizable to suit individual preferences. Panasonic claims that the device has been drop-tested in operation mode from a height of up to 76cm, and can withstand up to 100kg of pressure.

“The latest upgrades to the Panasonic CF-SX2 makes this business-ruggedized device the industry standard for the modern mobile workforce,” said Mr.Sachdev. “We’re catering to business users who want a robust, yet durable, lightweight notebook without compromising on performance. It’s the perfect solution for everyday mobile computing where speed, battery life, and business capabilities are essential”. 

Equipped with some of the industry’s best enterprise-level technologies, the Panasonic CF-SX2 features:

  • Processor: 3rd Generation Intel Core i5-3320M
  • Display: 12.1-inch HD+, 1600 x 900
  • Storage: 250GB
  • WLAN: 802.11abgn
  • WWAN: Built-in
  • DVD Optical Drive: Built-in
  • Weight: 1.21kg (4 cell battery)/ 1.42 kg (8 cell battery)
  • Battery Life: Up to 9 hours (4 cell battery) / Up to 14 hours (8 cell battery)
  • Dimension: 295 x 197.5 x 25.4mm
  • Drop Resistant: Up to 76cm

The Panasonic CF-SX2 also has two USB 3.0 ports for fast transfer speeds, a HDMI port for high-definition output, an SDXC slot for storage expansion or convenient memory access, a 720p webcam and built-in microphone, WLAN A/B/G/N and Bluetooth 4.0 to maintain connections. With a built-in WWAN adapter, the Panasonic CF-SX2 provides constant Internet connectivity which helps in ensuring consistent business productivity for the mobile worker.

Each Panasonic CF-SX2 unit will come with a copy of Windows 7 Professional (32-bit/64-bit version).

Last year we reviewed the Panasonic Toughbook CF-53 and we felt that from the outset, it looks like a briefcase in which you can safely put in your netbook or tablet. It featured a crystallised silver finish on the exterior and with visible screws around the notches on the side; it definitely looks like an industrial grade notebook built for rigorous usage.
