OxygenOS 3.1.0 rolling out for OnePlus 2, unofficial CM14 brings Nougat to OnePlus 3

OnePlus took to OnePlus forums to announce that it has started the rollout for OxygenOS 3.1.0 for OnePlus 2.

OnePlus took to OnePlus forums to announce it has started the rollout of OxygenOS 3.1.0 for OnePlus 2. The latest update does not bring Android Nougat 7.0 to the devices or the VoLTE support instead; it packs several bug fixes to the software. The fixes range from notification issues to alert slider and other bug fixes. OnePlus has implemented the Quadrooter patch and August 1 security patches to the device while improving doze mode performance. The update also added media sound toggle for the alert slider.

Besides, developers have brought Android Nougat 7.0 on the OnePlus 3 after senior XDA member Taker18 compiled an unofficial CyanogenMod 14 build for the device. Even though it is an early build and many important features like Calls, Camera, Dash Charge and Alert Slider are not working in the build, it's understandable that it will take some time for developers to bake a more stable build suitable to be a daily driver.

OnePlus 2 was released last year and has gained less traction in the developer community. The smartphone received Marshmallow in June this year which is almost ten months after Android Marshmallow 6.0 was launched for the public. The lack of a stable CyanogenMod (CM) snapshot for OnePlus 2 speaks volumes about the lack of developer community backing the device. In comparison, OnePlus One is regularly updated even after two years and has already received an experimental Android Nougat 7.0.
