Original Mass Effect 3 staff to work on next DLC

After the recent release of the Omega DLC for Mass Effect 3, it seems BioWare is going all out for the next DLC for the game. The company is now working on the next DLC with a bigger writing team and with the core members of the original Mass Effect 3 staff. According to Eurogamer, the development of the next DLC has been handed over to BioWare Edmonton, which developed the Mass Effect Trilogy.

The next DLC’s development will feature a writing team comprised of eight people, including the core members of the Mass Effect 3 staff, like lead writer Mac Walters.

“It’s all hands on deck for this one. Pretty much every Mass Effect 3 DLC writer here in Edmonton is involved,” BioWare designer Jos Hendriks wrote on the company’s official forum. “If my math skills are correct [that means] eight.”

So what exactly are we looking at?

All hands on deck

Other Mass Effect 3 developers are also coming back for the DLC, like Chief Composer Sam Hulick. Hulick was absent from the development of the last two DLCs for ME3. “What I’m up to lately: working on an unannounced Mass Effect 3 DLC!”, Hulick wrote on Twitter. “More details on this coming later on.”

Seth Green will also be returning to lend his voice to characters. The actor has been voice actor of Normandy’s pilot, Joker, since the first game. This would be the first time Green will be voice-acting for the game since Mass Effect 3.

Files hacked from the previous DLC packs are suggesting that the new DLC might focus on the Citadel. Previous DLCs were also identified in a similar manner. Since all the major developers of BioWare are coming together for the DLC’s development, this could mean that BioWare is attempting to cap off the Mass Effect trilogy with a big bang.

Earlier in November, BioWare revealed that the Wii U version of Mass Effect 3 will not be getting the major DLCs the company has released so far, including Leviathan and Omega. An official statement from the Mass Effect Twitter account stated, “Unfortunately it will not be available for the Wii U.” When asked whether any DLC would be making an appearance on the Wii U version of the game, EA replied, “Never say never :).”

The Omega DLC marked a big day for the Mass Effect franchise as it was the first time players got to interact with a female Turian. Omega is the most expensive DLC released for the Mass Effect series yet, not counting the online pass that came bundled with new copies of Mass Effect 2; it cost 1,200 Microsoft Points if you had a used copy. It is also the largest DLC for Mass Effect 3 so far, with producer Mike Gamble describing it during the New York Comic Con as “double the size” of the largest Mass Effect 3 DLC so far. The DLC has you revisiting Omega from the second game and teaming up with the ruler, Aria T’loak, to retake the space station back from the control of Cerberus. Among the features of the DLC is the inclusion of new enemies such as the Cerberus Dragoon class, which was recently added in the game for the multiplayer.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
