Opera Mini, the mobile browser application seen on multiple platforms, has come out with a latest update for its Android browser app. The Video Boost feature, as the name suggests promises to help reduce the video-buffering time while playing back videos within the Opera Mini v15 browser on your mobile device. Along with less video buffering, the feature will also help with data saving. According to Opera, this new feature helps reduce the size of the video data to reduce the video load time and bypass buffering related delays. Under the Data Savings mode, you will not see an option below the Wi-fi data savings called Video Boost. Selecting this feature will ensure that it is activated on your mobile device. The video boost feature also shows a count where users can keep track of how many videos have been optimized. Apart from video boost feature, the new update will also have ‘Save to SD card’ feature on mobiles with Android 4.4.4 and up. Opera Mini now also lets you re-size images in the browser before you upload them to the web. “In India alone, 70% of smartphone users stream video on their phones. Unfortunately, this eats up data plans quickly, and stalled videos waste time and create frustration. Opera Mini for Android comes to the rescue with video boost,” said Sunil Kamath, vice president - South Asia & South East Asia at Opera at the launch of this new feature.
