OpenMoko Gets an Upgrade

The OpenMoko Neo1973 open-source Linux handset may be popular with developers but the latest version promises to deliver a lot more. Called the OpenMoko FreeRunner (a catchy name), it will come equipped with a faster processor and a three-axis motion sensor, VGA touchscreen, Bluetooth v2.0, Wi-Fi support and microSD support for external memory.

The company is also planning to reduce the hefty price to make it more accessible to the fans and users. The new price should be somewhere close to about Rs. 15,825 ($400). The handset should be out by the end of April.
