Online TV shows are fast catching on. Just two weeks after Walt Disney Co. Network launched its episodes on iTunes, it has had three million online viewers. ABC television shows are not the only ones doing the rounds on the internet - Fox Entertainment and Discovery are following close, by offering a lot of their content online, for sale on iTunes. MySpace will have some of Fox Entertainment's TV shows as well.
If the viewership figures are anything to go by, then TV shows will be make their presence felt on the internet in the near future. It benefits the broadcast and cable network in terms of advertisement and revenue, where as viewers now have access to their favourite TV shows anywhere, anytime. By simply downloading the episodes (after paying for them of course) on to an iPod, one has 24/7 access to the shows.
Right now the shows available are limited but soon there will be our own desi saas-bahu serials online, I reckon. Well, that's not so bad, considering moms and aunts will get a little more tech savvy in the bargain.
