OnePlus X finally gets OxygenOS 3.1.2 based on Android Marshmallow

Just yesterday we reported that OnePlus is working on bringing new updates to its devices. Android 7.0 Nougat update for the OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus 3 were said to be in the tow while the OnePlus X was said to finally get the Marshmallow update next week. Keeping to their word, it seems that the OnePlus X is already starting to get a new update. The new OxygenOS 3.1.2 is said to be rolling out which is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. According to the company, OnePlus X owners running OxygenOS 2.2.3, 3.1.0 and 3.1.1 can update directly to 3.1.2 without having to flash back to a previous version. Some of the changes that will arrive with the new update include a new launcher with new icon packs, Google search bar UI customisation and a new wallpaper picker. OnePlus added the native Android app permissions system, along with the new Alert Slider settings with more customisation options. The October Android security patch will also be included. Apart from that there will be two new apps; OnePlus Music Player and OnePlus Gallery, and some obvious general system performance improvements and general bug fixes. OnePlus has confirmed that the update is not flawless as there is a known issue related to Facebook and Messenger apps. Users need to manually give storage permission to both these apps else they crash when using the camera app. Of course the update roll out is happening in stages so in case you haven’t got update yet be patient. It should reach you over the coming weeks.
