OnePlus settles issues with Micromax; One users will continue to get Cyanogen OS updates

Here’s some great news for OnePlus One users in India. Putting an end to the legal tussle, OnePlus One will continue to get updates from Cyanogen. OnePlus has resolved issues it had with Micromax and will be getting Cyanogen OS’s OTA updates going forward. “For reasons that were made public earlier, we had to take a legal recourse to protect our rights in light of the proceedings initiated by Micromax. Five months hence, we are happy to confirm today that all legal proceedings have been resolved and the cases have been withdrawn through mutual consent. We hate donning suits and ties anyways. To make things sweeter, we would like to re-assure our customers and fans in India that our flagship phone, the “OnePlus One” will continue to receive OTA updates from Cyanogen in-line with our users in markets around the world,” an official statement from the company reads. This means those who had been putting off buying the OnePlus One out of the fear that they would not get future Cyanogen updates, can now go ahead and make their purchase. While you required to have an invite to buy a OnePlus One before, now it can be purchased even without invites. If you remember, before the launch of the Yu Yureka smartphone (a new venture by Micromax which will focus on Cyanogen OS based smartphones), the company had gone **to court to get OnePlus One’s smartphones banned in India** (the latter had then newly launched in India via Amazon.in). The entire episode painted both Cyanogen and Micromax in bad light, as Indian users who bought and were planning to buy OnePlus One felt that they would no longer get OTA updates from the company. OnePlus One has received accolades and the company recently announced **16GB Silk White OnePlus One** model in India, available exclusively on Amazon.in for Rs 18,999. You can read our detailed **review of the OnePlus One** .
