OnePlus seeking General Manager for India operations, hints at launching One soon

One thing that Chinese smartphone makers have realised about India is that it’s a very different market. While **Xiaomi's drip sales tactics** have made it the kingpin in China, the same has nearly back-fired in India. With the Mi 3 now being **re-sold on classifieds platforms** , Xiaomi may have to rethink its approach or risk harming its brand identity. The perils are obvious; in a market jam-packed with vendors, even the smallest blip on the radar could have a lasting effect.

**Following Xiaomi to the Indian shores is OnePlus** , which is all set to launch its ‘flagship killer’ OnePlus One in India soon. The company has now taken a further step towards establishing an Indian set-up by listing a job opening for the post of General Manager for its India operations. The listing is put up on the company’s careers page and is an impassioned (almost Craigslist-like) post about what kind of an individual the company is looking for. “You will be the sun, the light that leads OnePlus into the Indian market; the center of orbit for all projects, operations, and service; the ambassador that spreads the OnePlus brand across India like a wildfire.”   The flowery language continues further in the post: “This position requires authority, leadership, and resolve when things get rough. We need you to weather the storm with us.” In terms of experience, OnePlus is looking for someone with “6+ years of general management experience working for a tier-1 company” and says the person will directly report to the head office in Shenzhen.   The OnePlus One has a large 5.5-inch LTPS IPS display with 1080×1920 pixel resolution and offers a pixel density of 401ppi. The display comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and the same adaptive backlight technology that’s seen in some Sharp displays. In addition, the phone is one of the few to have 3GB of RAM and is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5GHz with Adreno 330 GPU.  There’s a a 13-megapixel rear IMX214 sensor with a six-lens array and f/2.0 aperture that boasts quick shutter speed of only 0.3-seconds. It also comes with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. There’s no microSD card slot in the phone, so you are stuck with the 16 or 64 GB onboard storage. Most recently the company **received flak for a sexist campaign** that urged women to post pictures to earn a chance to buy the phone.
