The meeting was headed by Carl Pei and was split into three groups wherein the attendees gave their opinion on the camera performance of OnePlus devices. In the morning OnePlus gathered impressions on the camera on its devices.

The discussion in the afternoon session focused on the portrait mode and how the company could make it better. A 5-round blind test was also conducted to understand everyone's taste towards a good photo with respect to proper exposure and lighting conditions. A later session involved a Q&A round with Carl Pie and image algorithm engineer Becker about the camera experience.

After the interaction was over, OnePlus listed out a bunch of changes on its online forum that it is going to make to the camera department this year. They are as follows:

  1. A fix for compatibility issues with 3rd party camera apps.
  2. The ability for the camera to keep HDR settings from the last time the app was used.
  3. Optimisation of panorama experience.
  4. Optimisation of editing experience in Gallery collections.

The next Open Ear Forum will be held in San Francisco, USA, on 7 April. Interested users can register on OnePlus' website and 25 of them will be selected to attend the event.
