After putting out a teaser for what appeared to be a black OnePlus 3T smartphone, Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has finally revealed that a special edition black variant of the 3T will come to India. The smartphone maker announced that it would launch a new Midnight Black Limited Edition OnePlus 3T in India on 31 March at 4PM, but you may not be able to get your hands on one. OnePlus is taking the ’limited edition’ bit of the model name seriously, so this third Midnight Black finished variant of the OnePlus 3T will only be available in “extremely limited” numbers. The new colour option indeed looks similar to the OnePlus 3T Black Colette edition that was launched not too long ago. While those numbers have not been revealed, if you are a OnePlus fan, you probably should register both on Amazon India and at the OnePlus online store to better your chances of acquiring the smartphone. Again, like with everything else OnePlus has left its fans hanging as it has not revealed where it plans to sell these limited edition OnePlus 3T handsets. From what is known, the limited edition of the handset will only be available in 128GB storage variant, so expect the price tag to be locked at Rs 34,999 or bit higher. OnePlus is known for its unique colour finishes. The Soft Gold variant too was unique and instantly recognisable. With that said, fans too will be instantly able to differentiate between the Graphite and the Gunmetal options. So with the Midnight Black option, it was obvious that OnePlus took its time. As per the company forums, it took about a year and that OnePlus experimented with about 30 variations of black as it was not able to achieve that a premium deep black coat that the designers desired. Oddly the India site mentions that although the coating process is great, there are chances of getting micro abrasions with regular use without a protective case. “Note: we’re confident that we’ve innovated a superior coating process for the OnePlus 3T Midnight Black. However, micro-abrasions may result from regular use without a protective case.” While we have never had issues on any of our handsets (all variants of the OP3) so far, let’s hope that the Midnight Black keeps up to those standards. This would include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 and the 6GB of RAM along with a 3,400mAh battery with Dash Charge. If you plan to upgrade from a OnePlus 3T , now would not be a good time as a new OnePlus is expected to arrive by June.
But you may not be able to get your hands on a OnePlus 3T Midnight Black Limited Edition.
