OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T fans can rejoice as the company has confirmed that users will receive the yet to be released Android O update by the end of the year. The confirmation comes weeks after OnePlus CEO Pete Lau assured an Android O update for the devices released last year.

Following the launch of their latest flagship, company executives hosted an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit during which the confirmation was made. Addressing one of the fans who asked when could he expect the Android O software on his phone, company executive, Robin replied saying that both the OnePlus 3 and the updated OnePlus 3T will receive the update before the end of 2017.

Android O, which is due for release later this year, is already out on a developer preview for Google's Nexus and Pixel users. Google claims to have cut down app loading as well as boot times significantly with the update.

Apart from other changes including a new feature called 'notification channels' which changes the way notifications appear, the update will also allow users to organise notifications accordingly. Other enhancements include, improved battery life and machine learning capabilities. Visual tweaks in Android O will include new adaptive application icons and an improved support for fonts.
