OnePlus has announced the launch of Oxygen 3.5.5 update for the users using OnePlus 2. This is the first update in quite some time for OnePlus 2 users who were demanding updates for the device after a number of updates for OnePlus 3. The latest update brings some features to the smartphone that were previously missing.

The most significant addition that the company is rolling out is VoLTE functionality for select carriers along with other smaller updates like App Lock, Battery Saving, Gaming Mode, Shelf optimisations and updated OxygenOS UI. This comes along with updated interface and UI for the Clock app in addition to the December 1, 2016, Android Security Patch Level. The full changelog for the update is detailed below.

  • Added Battery Saving Mode ( Settings > Battery > More )
  • Added Gaming Mode ( Settings > Developer Options )
  • Added Additional Options for the Alert Slider.
  • Redesign of the Volume Adjustment Bar
  • Shelf Optimizations
  • Updated OxygenOS UI
  • Updated Interface and UI of the Clock app
  • Updated Android Security Patch Level to 1/12/16
  • Increased System Stability
  • General Bug Fixes

One important thing to note is that the update will replace Calculator, Clock and Messages from the exisiting OS version. However, you can install these apps from Google Play Store. The company further noted that this update would restore some settings to default after the upgrade which includes device name, ringtones, status bar battery indication and accent colours of the device. The post also detailed that the users may face issues with Wi-Fi, Network and Fingerprint if they attempt to roll back to OxygenOS 3.1.0.

OnePlus has put together a flashing guide for the downgrade from OxygenOS 3.5.5 to 3.1.0 along with the unique build that is required to carry forward the process. The company has also added a sheet where the users can give feedback on the UI/UX . Another thing to note is that the update will be rolled out in a staged manner and OnePlus 2 users will receive the software through an incremental OTA update. The company is expected to release the stable version of Android Nougat 7.0 for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T before the end of the year as promised by the company.
