One of they key people behind Opera Software, Jon Von Tetzchner has put in his papers at the company following disagreements with the board.

One of they key people behind Opera Software, Jon Von Tetzchner has put in his papers at the company following disagreements with the board. He’s said to be with the company till the 30th of June, 2011 after which would move on to other things, which he refuses to talk about. Opera Software was started by Jon Von Tetzchner and he held the position as Chief Executive Officer, till 2010. The CEO since then has been Lars Boilesen after which Tetzchner moved to an advisory position to the company.

The Opera desktop browser was the first tabbed browser back in the 90s itself. It has seen major growth, but hasn’t been able to grab a significant market share like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. However, the Opera Mini browser for mobile devices and tablets dominate the market. There is no clear information on what the disagreement may have been about but it appears that the board and Tetzchner had different opinions on the direction to be taken with the development of their browsers. 

Our resident Hardware Ninja, Rossi, lives for speed - by uhh riding his bicycle. He's Tech2's utility man, dividing his time between cameras, software and intense bouts of Quake III. He's also a fan of all things obscure, case in point, Live for Speed (sic). Never heard of it? We rest our case.
