Be prepared to procrastinate on a regular basis now since social photo sharing service Imgur has officially launched its app for iPhone and iPad in the Apple App Store. The app will provide pretty much all of the major features you’ve been using regularly on the web version of the service.
Using the Imgur application, you will be able to browse through photos, check out the viral ones doing rounds of the Interwebz and even comment on them. You will also be able to manage your account, create albums and upload images GIFs from your iOS devices.
Official app now on iOS
Imgur had released its Android application in late May for all users. The app was in beta mode back then and riddled with bugs. In June, the app was made “official” and taken out of beta with all features the iOS app currently sports. You can swipe left or right to view new images and handle all your settings in one place.
The Imgur app on Apple’s App Store already faces tough competition from third party apps that have taken full advantage of the Open API to build their versions of the Imgur. The apps are even providing features that the official application still seems to be lacking. 9to5Mac has noted that the app lacks the ability to save photos to library and sharing options for GIFs from albums are not supported yet. Hopefully, the official application will add the missing features to the application.
In the meanwhile, you can take the official Imgur app for a spin on your iOS devices by downloading it from the App Store.
