Roughly a month after aunching its Office Mobile for iPhone app for Office 365 subscribers, Microsoft has launched the app for Android phones in the US at no additional charge for Office 365 subscribers. Simply put, Office 365 subscribers in the US can now use the app to work on their Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents on the go.

The app is up for grabs on the Google Play store and only those with valid Office 365 subscriptions including Office 365 Home Premium or Office 365 ProPlus can use this app. The app is currently only available for those in the US, but the software giant has plans for expansion in this respect and more companies can be expected to join in soon.

Office Mobile for Android device comes with support for charts, animations, SmartArt Graphics and shapes. Those using the app can edit or add comments to documents, without it affecting its formatting and layout. 

App users will be able to access their Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents in the cloud on SkyDrive or SkyDrive Pro. Those on their device will be able to see the list of documents they recently opened on their computer in the Recent Documents panel; documents received in emails can be viewed and edited too.

When reviewing Word documents on the app, users can benefit from the Resume Reading feature that takes them to the exact point in the document where they were last on the PC. Then there is the Slide Navigator feature on the app that lets users browse through PowerPoint presentations and the Speaker Notes helps users practice on the run.

Importantly, the Android app comes with built-in sharing features. Users can edit documents and share them from their phone, review comments in Word and Excel documents and add their own. Once done, they can also save the file back to SkyDrive or SkyDrive Pro or just send it as an email attachment.
