Acknowledging the fact that there have been delivery delays for the Oculus Rift, the company has officially sent out emails to those customers who are still waiting for Rift VR headsets. In the email, the company writes that the delay is due to “component shortages.” Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe sent out a tweet on the matter as well stating that those who have ordered the device on or before April 1 will get free shipping on their order. https://twitter.com/brendaniribe/status/716241817901993986 According to a report by Forbes, who shared the email received, the company writes, “We know you’re anxious to receive your Oculus Rift and apologize for not updating your order status sooner. We’ve been working through an unexpected component shortage, and unfortunately, that issue has impacted the original shipping estimates for some early customers.” The company states that it also working hard to get up-to-date ship windows, and one should expect to see their order status updated on oculus.com by April 12. It says, “Although many Rifts will be arriving on schedule and in line with original estimates, we’ll be covering shipping and handling costs for all orders placed through today.” According to reports , as Facebook-owned startup Oculus gears up to make its VR headsets public for a new-age movie and gaming experience, it is also considering to have an “open platform” for developers – including porn producers. Owing to costly equipment and production costs, making a VR porn film can cost up to $100,000.
