Octa-core Acer Liquid X1 with LTE, 13MP camera announced

Acer has announced a new addition to its smartphone portfolio with the Liquid X1, announced on the sidelines of Computex 2014.   The launch of the X1 is expected to be around Q3 this year, while the price is still unknown. It has a 5.7 inch Zero Air Gap display, which means it’s squarely in the trending phablets category. The screen resolution is not full HD, instead you get a 720p display, which could result in better power consumption.   The X1 sports a 1.7 GHz processor and 2GB of RAM, along with a quad-core GPU as part of the MediaTek MT6592 SoC. Connectivity options are  Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and LTE Category 4, with up to 150 Mbps download speed.   The primary camera is a 13MP shooter with a wide f/1.8 aperture, 0.3s autofocus, according to Acer, and 1080p video recording. Liquid X1 has 16GB of internal storage, expandable through a microSD card (up to 32 additional GBs). Finally, there’s a large 2,700 mAh battery on board, which should ideally be able to provide day-long usage.   The company has focused extensively on the camera with additional features like the free focus which focuses automatically for the user. Bright Magic is another feature and it helps the user take better pictures in low light conditions, and there’s motion tracking as well, which follows the subject in an action shot.   Apart from the camera features, the smartphone features the Acer Zoom Fit a function which shrinks the interface down to 4 inches, so that it can be more easily used with one hand. Acer has also added other features like the AcerRAPID for quick access to apps and actions. The company has also built its version of Samsung’s MultiWindow and LG Q Slide with AcerFLOAT which allows multiple app windows to remain open.
