Adding to the fiercely competitive mobile market in India, Obi Mobiles has launched its flagship smartphone dubbed Octopus S520. The device will be initially available only via Snapdeal for Rs 11,990. Sporting a metallic design, the Octopus S520 is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM. Following the current trend among budget phones, it runs on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat. It sports a 5-inch HD IPS display and the company claims that the thickest part of the device is 8.

The device will be initially available only via Snapdeal for Rs 11,990.   Sporting a metallic design, the Octopus S520  is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM. Following the current trend among budget phones, it runs on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat. It sports a 5-inch HD IPS display and the company claims that the thickest part of the device is 8.4mm.   While introducing the Obi Octopus S520, Ajay Sharma, CEO, Obi Mobiles said, “This flagship device is an affirmation of our stated commitment to extend the best in class smartphone experience. From hardware specifications to the quality of accessories there are no compromises whatsoever, because we know our young customers conduct their lives around their smartphones.”   The Dual SIM smartphone comes with support for 3G. The 8GB onboard storage can be expanded further up to 32GB. On camera front, one can expect 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The device is fuelled by an 1800mAh battery that promises 240 minutes of talktime and 180 hours of standby time.   The Octopus S520 package contains a flip cover, screen protector, a charging cable and in-ear earphones, according to the official release. We have said in the past, that after-sales service is one of the most crucial ingredients for finding market success in India. And Obi says over 95 service centres for after-sales support have been set up, and there’s location selector tool on their website.   Obi Mobiles is a brand new player in the market and as reported in the past, it’s backed by John Sculley , the former Apple CEO.
