If you thought that NVIDIA was done with its high end cards for the GTX 700 series generation, think again. In a recent slide leaked by Videocardz.com , it seems as if NVIDIA is planning to launch two more high end cards - the GTX TITAN Black Edition and the GTX 790.
The GTX TITAN Black Edition is expected to have the same GK110 GPU that was seen on the GTX 780Ti. While the GTX 780Ti comes with 3GB of GDDR5 video memory, the GTX TITAN Black Edition, just like the TITAN, is expected to come with 6GB of GDDR5 video memory. This makes sense considering the TITAN is card category that will be aimed at GPGPU computing enthusiasts as well as those having a multi-monitor setup. It also is enough VRAM to take care of 4K resolution monitors. It comes with 2880 CUDA cores, 240 Texture Mapping Units and 48 ROPs. The GTX TITAN Black Edition is expected to be priced at USD 999 (approx Rs 61,820).
The second graphics card which is rumoured to come out is the GTX 790. The moment we see an NVIDIA card with the last two digits ending in 90 we immediately think a dual-GPU flagship card. That is what the GTX 790 is expected to be. It will likely come with two GK110 GPUs with 2496 CUDA cores per GPU. It will also have 2x320-bit memory interfaces. The video memory expected on the GTX 790 is 10GB GDDR54.
Only time will tell if these rumours will hold water, but looking at NVIDIA GeForce families from the past, at least the GTX 790 launch seems likely in the next few months.
