NVIDIA has announced a new family of NVIDIA GeForce 8 Series of graphics processors targeted at the notebook PC market. These new GPUs (graphics processing units) will power a, new generation of notebook PCs, that will have full support for Windows Vista, DirectX 10 games, HD movies, and popular applications like Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Live Maps
The new GeForce 8M Series notebook GPU will be the the world’s first mobile solution to support DirectX 10 and fully accelerate decoding of H.264 full HD movies.It will also feature full support for Nvidia’s own Purevideo HD processing engine which provides smooth playback for HD-DVD, Blu-Ray and HD movie downloads. The new video-processing engine performs 100% of the H.264 HD video decoding, freeing the CPU for other tasks and significantly reducing power consumption, heat and noise. These new chips will also feature support for Nvidia’s new Powermizer technology which promises better battery life for laptops by balancing graphical needs.
