Guess HTC’s gadgets are making surprise arrivals in India. Earlier today, we caught the Salsa sneaking in through Flipkart and now it’s the HTC Flyer – the Taiwanese company’s famous Android tablet with a stylus. The tablet is up for pre-orders on Letsbuy.com at an exorbitant price of Rs. 37,499.

Look what just flew in
The tablet runs on Android 2.4 and not Honeycomb or 3.0 as you might expect it to and will be powered by a 1.5 GHz processor. The tablet supports both Adobe Flash and HTML5 for smoother video playback. As usual, HTC has their Sense UI running on top of the operating system. Here are some of the specifications of the tablet:
- 7-inch Capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch and a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels
- 3G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot
- EDGE/GPRS
- GPS with A-GPS support
- Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP
- 5 megapixel camera with autofocus
- 1.3 megapixel front facing camera
- 3.5 mm audio jack
- Memory expandable to 32 GB
Apart from these specifications, the Flyer’s camera has Geo tagging and can record videos at 720p. Also, the tablet has Dolby mobile and SRS sound enhancement with support for the regular audio formats like MP3, AAC+ and WAV. It also supports DivX, XviD, MP4 and H.264 video formats.
If you don’t know this already, one of the Flyer’s already-popular feature is the stylus which doesn’t come bundled but works pretty well . Now that the tablet’s here for pre-orders, the official launch shouldn’t be far off but the price looks a little too much for competing with the iPad 2. Here’s hoping that the price sees a drop quickly.
Our resident Hardware Ninja, Rossi, lives for speed - by uhh riding his bicycle. He's Tech2's utility man, dividing his time between cameras, software and intense bouts of Quake III. He's also a fan of all things obscure, case in point, Live for Speed (sic). Never heard of it? We rest our case. In his spare time he tries to teach our new joinees the tricks of the trade even though the blood sweat and tears, but give him a camera and all things forgotten.
