Google has finally taken Google Glass outside of the US. The Explorer Edition is up for grabs in the United Kingdom via the Google Play store for £1,000 (approximately Rs 1,02,300) and available in Cotton, Charcoal, Tangerine, Shale and Sky variants.
The UK launch is marked with a promo video:
Google also plans to sell optional frames from its Titanium collection. Besides, Explorer Edition will come with an additional frame or shade for free. Otherwise, each frame costs £175 while shades are priced at £120.
Moreover, Google has also made a slew of other accessories to go along with the Glass. To begin with, the new Stereo earbuds are listed for £65, along with its mono iteration that is available at a slightly cheaper price of £40. Both accessories feature a V-shaped Glass branding on the outside. Users can also opt for a pouch for £40 and a Clear Shield visor for £60. Google promises to ship them within one to two working days.
Earlier this year, the Explorer Edition was made available in the US as a one-day limited offer, but after a good response, it was made available to everyone in the US. Now, the company has taken a step towards expanding the reach of the Glass, which means we can expect the device to go global gradually as the year unfolds.
Besides, customers in London can also try Glass at one of Google’s demo days on June 27-28. Click here to know more. With Google I/O set to take place this week, we can expect some more Glass-related news soon.
