Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S5 smartphone at the Mobile World Congress 25 February and according to the latest rumours the smartphone is likely to come with a ‘gold’ coloured version as well. Think Apple’s iPhone 5s anyone? According to Android Community, a leaked document from Vodafone shows that Samsung is going to be offering the smartphone in a gold coloured variant as well. It’s not clear though exactly what shade of gold the S5 will come in. Will it be the classic champagne gold that Apple went for, which looked quite subtle or will Samsung go all out with a blingy gold version? It should be noted that Samsung did launch gold versions of the S4 in Saudi Arabia, one which was gold and black and another which was more ridiculous looking gold and pink. The two devices scored high in garish and very low in ’tasteful’. As far as other rumours for the Samsung Galaxy S5 go, it is likely to come with a fingerprint scanner. According to trusted Samsung source website SamMobile, the scanner will be embedded inside the S5’s home button. The report says that, “The sensor itself works in a swipe manner, which means that you would need to swipe the entire pad of your finger, from base to tip, across the home key to register your fingerprint properly.” S5’s fingerprint sensor is also quite finicky about moisture, so you need to have completely dry fingers. Users can register a total of eight fingerprints on the S5, says the report. You can read the full report on Samsung’s fingerprint scanner here. Other features include a 16 megapixel camera, and screen resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. It seems that Samsung has ditched the eye-scanner for good, according to posts by @evleaks.
