Not again! Kerala Police book 111 for anti-Kurien remarks on Facebook

For India’s Facebook citizens, sharing their views on controversial issues will continue to land them into trouble.

According to a Times of India, report, the Kerala Police have booked over 111 people for sharing defamatory remarks against Rajya Sabha deputy chairman PJ Kurien, who’s name has cropped up again in the Suryanelli gangrape case.

The victim in this case has demanded that the charges against Kurien be probed again, even though he was given a clean chit by the Supreme Court.

Acting on a complaint from Bindu Krishna, Kerala Mahila Congress chief, cops booked a case against the man who posted the allegedly defamatory comment along with charging 110 others for sharing it, while pointing out that the total number of people involved in “sharing” the post is more than 2,000. Cases have been registered under section 66 A of IT Act.
