Nokia to Bring in Rs. 1499 Bicycle Charger to India

For all those who are environment-friendly and believe in being energy-efficient, Nokia will be launching a Bicycle Charger by the end of February or latest by next month, as per sources.

This Bicycle Charger Kit uses the simple concept of converting kinetic energy (by pedaling your cycle) to electrical energy. It’s a nice way to charge your Nokia phones and about 20 minutes of cycling at 10 km/h, you can power up a Nokia 1202 for 1 hour of talk time or 74 hours of standby time. The kit consists of a bottle dynamo, a charger and a phone holder.

Pedal and charge

While the bottle dynamo stays in place, the charger and phone holder can be carried around once you park your bike. The charger can charge phones that use a 2-mm charger interface which means there’s a whole lot of old and current Nokia phones that can be charged, right from a black and white Nokia 1200 to an N95.

The whole kit which is currently available in Europe comes for €30 (approx Rs. 1,890) is said to be priced at Rs. 1499 in India. The price is almost the same as that of a bicycle so whether not this gadget does make a difference is to be seen. You can check Nokia’s site for more details.
