Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia has today announced that Mix Radio will now be available on Nokia Music, the company’s free music streaming service, for select Asha smartphones. While the music streaming service is currently available on all Nokia Lumia smartphones, the company is now rolling out the same for select Asha models. Models that can avail this service include the Nokia Asha 305, 308, 310 and 311.

Earlier, Asha users could only access the Nokia Music Store, which provided more than 8 million songs for users to choose from. With the addition of Mix Radio, phone users can now stream free music while browsing through more than 150 playlists.

The company will bring Mix Radio as a pre-loaded feature for selected Asha models that are currently being shipped to India. The service is free-to-use, but will be dependent on individual data charges that telecom companies levy.

Nokia has been pushing hard to popularise its Asha series in the Indian market for the last few months. Recently, the company released the beta version of Nokia Here Maps for the Asha 501. The app is designed to function on phones that do not come with a GPS antenna.

So far, Here Maps allow users to plan trips using driving, transit and walking directions, similar to what Google Maps currently provides. Vehicle users with an Asha phone can use Here Maps for real-time traffic information and also switch from a standard map view to have a look at public transit lines. Satellite imaging is also provided, which the company has said will constantly be updated with higher-resolution images. With constant updates, it is clear that Nokia is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the success of the Asha series.
