Nokia launches Lumia 925 and Lumia 625 for Rs 33,499 and Rs 19,999

The Nokia Lumia 925 and Lumia 625 smartphones have finally launched in India at Rs 33,499 and Rs 19,999, respectively. The Lumia 925 has been doing the rounds on online shopping sites for a while and now that both phones have launched in an official capacity, expect the Lumia 625 to show up as well. The Lumia 925 is an upgrade to the Lumia 920 as it brings with it a slimmer and lighter chassis. However, Nokia has chopped the internal storage down to half (16GB) while raising the price so you might want to keep that in mind before deciding. The Lumia 625 takes the place of the Lumia 720 in terms of pricing.

Sources at the company had previously hinted that the company is likely to launch the smartphone around the end of this month; right on cue, the Lumia 625 is here. For those who missed it, the smartphone features a 4.7-inch super-sensitive LCD display – the company’s largest smartphone screen to date - with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The display on the Nokia Lumia 625 can be easily viewed in direct sunlight and comes with super-sensitive touch technology for use with gloves or nails. It sports a 5MP rear camera with autofocus capabilities, LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera.

Nokia Lumia 625: Officially launched in India

Other features of this smartphone includes GPS with A-GPS, USB 2.0 and WLAN IEEE 802.11b/g/n. It comes with 8GB internal memory that can be expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card. The Nokia Lumia 625 smartphone is powered by the latest version of Windows Phone 8 and also includes the Nokia Lumia Amber update. Live Tiles update directly to the homescreen and the People Hub feature on the phone allows users to stay connected with friends and family. It also packs the benefits of some Windows Phone 8 features like Xbox Live, Microsoft Office and 7GB of online SkyDrive storage.

The Nokia Lumia 625 smartphone includes five brightly coloured changeable shells. The smartphone also comes with a range of integrated camera applications like Nokia Smart Camera, offering handy features like removing unwanted objects from pictures, and Nokia Cinemagraph, which turns photos into living memories with added movement.

Powered by the latest version of Windows Phone 8

Users can access more than 165,000 apps including Vimeo, Temple Run and WhatsApp on the phone. Additionally, there is SD memory card support on the smartphone, allowing up to 64GB of additional content storage.

Nokia Music on this Lumia smartphone provides users unlimited streaming of ad-free mixes without registration or subscription, plus the ability to download mixes for listening offline with the smartphone. Nokia has also teamed with Coloud to create BOOM headphones and integrated microphone and buttons for voice calls and music control. The smartphone also offers maps and location experiences from HERE – HERE Maps, HERE Drive and HERE Transit, providing free maps, turn-by-turn navigation and public transport guidance.

Nokia had officially announced the Lumia 925 smartphone in May this year. The smartphone features a metal chassis and showcases the latest PureView camera technology, new features and third party applications.

The Nokia Lumia 925 comes with an advanced lens technology and next generation imaging software to capture clearer, sharper pictures and video, including the best low-light images. The smartphone also introduces the new Nokia Smart Camera mode, which is coming as an update to all Lumia Windows Phone 8 smartphones. Nokia Smart Camera offers an easy way to capture ten images at once and edit the pictures with options like Best Shot, Action Shot and Motion Focus for creating the perfect high quality image.

Nokia also announced that Hipstamatic will arrive on Nokia Lumia smartphones, allowing people to share their pictures with like-minded enthusiasts on social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Instagram.

The polycarbonate back comes in white, grey or black colours. A wireless charging cover can be clipped onto the back of the phone to take advantage of Nokia’s extensive wireless charging accessories and ecosystem. Covers, sold separately, come in white, black, yellow and red.
