 "Nokia launches Here Venue maps in Kolkata")
Nokia has launched its venue-based mapping service for Kolkata under its Here brand, according to a report by Hindu Business Line.
With the Here Venue maps service, users can find their way through a specific venue with details. Say you’re in a mall, then using Here Venue, you can locate specific stores, product offers, floor levels, et al in the mall. For now, though, the service is only available for shopping malls, and is likely to be extended to airports. The report further quoted Nokia India’s Kislay Kumar, General Manager – East Market, as saying that they have added 8 city-based malls to the list.
Launches venue-based mapping service
At present, Lumia and Asha range of Nokia smartphones and mobile handsets running Windows Phone come with these venue mapping services. Automobile brands like BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen and Hyundai that use Nokia Here will be able to use these venue-mapping services too.
The report goes on to state that although “Here” services can be accessed on other operating systems - iOS and Android, the venue-based mapping service will not be available to those users.
Venue-based maps are currently available in 20 cities – Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, to name a few.
