The first beta of Nokia Here Maps for the Asha 501 has been officially launched. Designed to work on phones without a GPS antenna, this port of Here Maps lets you search for places and addresses in nearly 200 countries. You can also plan your trip using driving, transit and walking directions.

Those using a vehicle can use Here Maps’s real-time traffic information to make alterations to their routes, and can choose to have a standard map view or look at public transit lines. You can also view satellite images, which Nokia says it will be updating with higher-resolution images.
A whole bunch of updates have graced Here Maps over the past few weeks. Nokia recently updated the aerial imagery on here.com, and the changes will be made available on smartphones later this year. Once the changes set in, Here.com users will be able to view images spanning across 90 percent of the global landmass. They’re starting off with enhanced imagery of the United States, Western Europe and South Africa—14 million sq Km of land area.
If you own the new Nokia Asha 501, you can download Here Maps from the Nokia Store.
