Nokia has announced today that it is rolling out Nokia Chat beta for all Lumia phones. Powered by Yahoo beta, the chat feature is rolling out worldwide now.
Though the service has been available since a while in a few countries, markets like Vietnam, Brazil and Turkey will be getting the cross-platform application today. You can use the app to connect with family and friends using the app on Lumia, Asha, S40 and even Symbian Nokia devices.
Available for all Nokia Lumia devices now
Like most other cross-platform messaging apps, Nokia Chat beta will allow you to indulge in person-to-person messaging. The great part about this feature is that besides allowing you to chat with users on its own platform, Nokia chat beta will let you interact with friends on Yahoo Messenger too.
Once installed, the app will give you push notifications for new messages, preview feature and a notification count even when the application is not running. You will also be able to share information about any place of interest or establishment using the messaging application. If your friend is using a Lumia, he or she will see a touchable map preview that links to place details, directions and reviews; it will be powered by HERE Maps.
If you own a Nokia Lumia phone with Windows 8, you’ll receive a barrage of more features with the messaging app. You can use tap+send to send chat addresses and details and even the entire chat to another Lumia phone. The app will also allow you to compose a message by speaking into the phone, which will then be translated into text.
Nokia Chat beta will also provide lock screen notifications as well as voice commands for Windows 8 running Lumia phones. You can long-press the Windows key and say “Chat with”, followed by a friend’s name to begin chatting with them.
You can download Nokia Chat beta to get started with interacting with your Nokia-owning family and friends.
