 "Nokia Announces the C5 5MP, Photos of the N700 Leak Out")
More Nokia news for this week. Only yesterday we saw the N5 running on what looked like Symbian’s Anna operating system. Now, there are a couple of more smartphones to talk about. Firstly, Nokia quietly unveiled the C5 5MP which is the older sibling of the C5 announced back in March. Secondly, a few pictures of the N700 (aka Zeta) have been leaked.
With a higher resolution camera and more memory
The C5 5MP’s specifications listed are almost the same as the C5, apart from a few differences here and there. One of them is pretty clear by the name itself and that’s the camera resolution. The C5 had a 3.2 megapixel camera whereas this one has a 5 megapixel sensor. The other difference is that this smartphone has more memory. It runs on Symbian’s S60 platform and it has the following specifications:
- 2.2-inch TFT screen with 240 x 320 pixels resolution
- 3G, GPS with A-GPS support
- EDGE/GPRS
- Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, EDR
- 5 megapixel camera with fixed focus and LED flash
- Secondary VGA camera
- 256 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM
- Memory expandable through microSD card
- Stereo FM Radio with RDS
- 3.5 mm audio jack
The C5 5MP is powered by a 600 MHz ARM 11 processor and has Flash Lite 3.0 for smoother web browsing. The handset has support for MP3, WMA, WAV audio formats and MP4, H.264 and H.263 video formats. There are quite a few apps pre-loaded like Facebook, YouTube, Hi5, Friendster and MySpace. Plus, Nokia has bundled Ovi Maps 3.0, as well.
The pricing and launch dates in India are unknown for now, but if Nokia sets an aggressive price, we might have a cool social networking smartphone over here.
Going Belle-stic with the N700
Coming to the Nokia N700 which is also called Zeta, the smartphone is probably powered by a 1 GHz processor but GSMArena cannot confirm that, just yet. Also, Zeta is supposedly running on Symbian Belle which is the Anna’s successor. Now, is this the same OS that the N5 was running? It’s too early to talk about that. The N700 will boast of NFC capabilities and has a 5 megapixel camera. It also has a 3.2-inch HD AMOLED touchscreen and will have Wi-Fi and 3G.
So the N700 looks quite promising for a smartphone, but that again boils down to how Nokia prices the handset. We’ll keep our eyes peeled open on both the N5 and N700. Till then stay tuned to Tech2.
