HMD Global’s
**Nokia** is expected to launch two high-end smartphones later this year, the Nokia 9 and the Nokia 8 Pro. While the Nokia 9 has been in the news for a while now, a new report states that the phone could come with an iPhone X-like notch and an under-display fingerprint scanner. report by NokiaPowerUser, a reliable Chinese source has stated that HMD Global is trying to maximise display area on its upcoming flagships which will likely result in the sporting of a notch. The need to pack a large display into the front of the phone will also likely force HMD Global and Nokia to settle for an under-display fingerprint scanner, similar to the one we recently saw on the
**Vivo APEX Concept smartphone** . The report added that the Nokia 9 will likely sport a fully refreshed design in comparison to the Nokia 8 Sirocco, though the latter was referred to as the Nokia 9 before its launch. Based on a recent report, we also learn that the Nokia 9 will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset while also featuring what is called claimed to be the “best in class” smartphone camera. Not a lot is known about the Nokia 9 in general, but considering Google’s recent
**Android P developer preview** which adds support for a notch, we could see Nokia implement a tall display with a notch for the front camera and earpiece.
