At the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC), Nokia announced a wide variety of smartphones that span a number device segments. Among these was the brand new Nokia 7 Plus, which is that plus-sized variant of the standard Nokia 7 model. [caption id=“attachment_4366885” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Image: HMD Global[/caption] The Nokia 7 is a mid-range device with a focus on design and performance and was first launched in China back in October 2017. The new Nokia 7 Plus builds on that and offers an attractive design that not just looks good but feels solid as well. The smartphone at the MWC 2018 was announced in two colours, black/copper and white/copper. Its clear that Nokia has spent time on the design when you notice the fine copper coloured lipping that surrounds the display. Another detail is the lack of visible antenna bands that have been covered using a new ceramic finish coating. The copper coloured touches continue around the sides of the smartphone and even on the camera ring at the back that lends it a premium look. Nokia has used the strong and sturdy 6000 series aluminium to construct the device whose design is similar to the trend followed by the rest of the new lineup. Another feature at the front is that large 6-inch IPS LCD display, that comes in a taller 18:9 form factor. This not only makes the viewing experience more immersive but is also fits into a smaller footprint, thanks to the overall slimmer bezels as compared to the outgoing models by Nokia. With a solid unibody shell covering the back, it was obvious that Nokia (being Nokia) would offer something solid on the front, and they did so, with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer. Inside, you get a brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 256 GB using a micro SD card. At the rear, Nokia offers a dual camera setup with 12 MP wide-angle ZEISS camera + a 13 MP telephoto ZEISS camera. The front facing camera does not fall short either with a 16 MP unit. The Nokia 7 Plus is priced at 399 Euro. India pricing and launch dates will be announced later.
